We are talking about high-tech inflatable structures for unconventional uses, covers and special projects, as structures that can be removed in just a few minutes. However, it would be reductive to attempt to compile a list – each specific problem requires a specific invention. A look through our portfolio can render the idea clearer than many words.
The turning point: SOLAR IMPULSE
One example is the SOLAR IMPULSE project. In the beginning, there was only one problem: how to safeguard the most delicate ultralight aircraft in the world, powered by solar energy, when it is on the ground, between one stage and the next throughout the world tour? It was necessary to imagine a hangar that was mobile, resistant to winds of 100 kilometres/hour, mountable and dismountable in a few hours by a small number of employees and without the aid of mechanical equipment. It had to be light, not cumbersome, able to be packed into a small space and transported on a plane that accompanied the whole team.
 FLY IN’s winning solution was to design and build a hangar that inflates around the aircraft to allow the sun’s rays to recharge the aircraft’s batteries. It took five years of work with engineers around the world. FLY IN has thus developed the technical ability to engineer each inflatable through scientifically-proven calculations. What we have created is a masterpiece of technology, engineering and creativity that finds its foundations in boating, aeronautics and civil engineering.
SOLAR IMPULSE was the turning point for FLY IN, which developed the ability to employ materials and seams in such a way that they can be inflated with very low energy consumption – an environmental breakthrough of which we are proud and that accompanies all our projects

Our manufacturing process
Big inflatable structures, roofing and large installations require specific study. There is no standard project. Based on the requirements, the design variables, choice of materials, assembly techniques and stitching can all change.
The execution of mathematical calculations, carried out by an engineering firm, results in the directions for obtaining the maximum resistance of the inflatable structure, guaranteeing its safety in its use from theory to practice. The pieces of fabric, already cut out, are tested individually for the first time then tested again after sewing. Where necessary, the layers of fabric multiply and become integral. But that is not sufficient – once absolute compliance with the executive technical project has been verified, the structure is subjected to stress testing, before issuing the certification that allows its use.
It is not a list but just another example that demonstrates our belief: creativity has no limits.
